Upcoming Planned Power Outage

UPDATE: The primary fixed-wirless Internet provider in our neighborhood, CIP, would not guarantee that Internet wouldn’t be interrupted during the outage. If they see a tower go out, they will have technicians put it on a generator to restore service. So, if you work from home like we do and have a backup generator to run your router, please have a backup plan in the event Internet service from CIP/Rise is not working during that time.

The Board has been notified by our contact at Oncor of a planned power outage to replace equipment and improve service. The outage will occur:

Wednesday, December 20, 2023 between 9am and 2pm

Oncor provided the following additional information:

As part of our efforts to improve service reliability in your area, Oncor will be initiating a reliability improvement project.  Oncor refers to this type of a project as a “voltage conversion project,” where the voltage is increased to help reduce the amount of load, and therefore potential stress, on the powerlines.  Also, Oncor will be replacing the existing transformers in your subdivision with new transformers.  Combined, we’re confident that these actions will help to improve service reliability in the area.  Additionally, as part of this project, it will be necessary to implement a planned outage in your subdivision on Wednesday, December 20th, 2023, in order to protect the health and safety of those performing this work.  The planned outage is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the 20th.  I recognize that even a planned outage can be a challenge, and assure you we will have all resources engaged in completing the work as quickly and safely as possible. Oncor personnel will be hanging doorhangers in the near future to inform residents of the planned outage.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Oncor directly at 888-313-6862

Action Needed: Power Outages

We are all frustrated by the most recent power outages. These outages add to many years of unacceptable reliability and service from Oncor, the maintainer of the electrical lines in our neighborhood. The Board is hoping to coordinate an effort to hold Oncor accountable with the assistance of the Governor’s office and our state elected officials.  We are requesting your help to aid in the effectiveness of actions the Board is taking.

One of our neighbors contacted the Governor’s office about the recent outages. The Governor’s office filed a formal complaint with Public Utility Commission of Texas, and they opened an investigation into the reliability and service issues with Oncor. The Board hopes to bring attention to the investigation by providing information about the costs and harm incurred by our neighbors and encourage the Governor’s office to follow through with forcing Oncor to take responsibility and provide a resolution.

We believe that pursuing action through our state elected officials and PUCT will be the most effective method to put pressure on Oncor, as past attempts through normal customer service channels have proven ineffective. The State of Texas holds regulatory authority over Oncor through PUCT, so state elected officials are who we want to target, as opposed to US congress or county/city officials who hold little sway over electricity issues for us.

The Board requests that you file your own complaint with the Public Utility Commission of Texas, contact the Governor’s office, and contact our State Senator Angela Paxton and State Representative Frederick Frazier with your personal account of costs & harms you and your family have experienced due to power outages. Examples like the cost of generators, fuel, damage to appliances and electronics, fuel consumption, and personal hardships from the lengthy outages we have experienced. Also be sure to clearly state that you want Oncor to perform whatever repairs and maintenance are necessary to eliminate the frequent outages. The Board will be issuing its own plea; however, we believe multiple individual accounts and complaints will be far more effective and meaningful than just a single neighbor and the Board requesting assistance.

Please use the following links to direct your accounts. You can copy/paste the same account for each elected official to save some time. I have also provided phone numbers if you would prefer to call the offices directly:

Public Utility Commission of Texas (Formal Complaint):

Governor’s Office:

State Senator Angela Paxton:

State Representative Frederick Frazier:

Thank you for your assistance in helping address our power outage issues and holding Oncor accountable. Please contact the Board if you have any questions or additional information that could be helpful in our efforts.

New "No Outlet" Sign Added

April 30, 2023- Update - After voicing concerns with the county about the large road sign not being visible when approaching from the south, the smaller sign on top of the stop sign was restored.

April 21, 2023- Update - It appears the original sign placed earlier was temporary, the county came back and replaced it with a permanent road sign.

April 11, 2023 - At the most recent HOA meeting, a neighbor suggested adding a "No Outlet" sign to the front of the neighborhood to reduce the number of lost cars & trucks, especially as the area continues to develop. We put in a request with Collin County, and today they added it to the top of the stop sign.
